Mars’ Cheese Castle Re-Opens With Fanfare

The Mars’ Cheese Castle re-opened in its snazzy new digs Friday, and I couldn’t resist heading across the border to Wisconsin to check it out. I joined the throng of eager cheese lovers snapping shots of the regal exterior from the parking lot moat that surrounds it, and happily the new look does the place justice — with flags flying from the ramparts and a drawbridge at the entrance.

The inside is a typical convenience store full of souvenirs, snacks, beer, wine and cheese, of course. Like the old place, there’s a cafe in there too, but seating is limited. I hope they add more tables. There is so much more space in the new building that I think the old would fit into it three times over. At first, it seemed to me that the cheese choices in the vast expanse were more limited than before, but now I think they are very much what they ever were, they’re just more spread out.

The Mars’ Cheese Castle is still a must-stop destination for any Wisconsin road trip, and now it looks better than ever!

Mmm, cheesy!

When @Trishytroo asked us yesterday where to find the best macaroni and cheese, we thought it was a great question. We’ve tried macaroni and cheese at every restaurant that’s had it on the menu, but still haven’t been satisfied enough to crown a winner. Maybe there is no winner. There are certainly no losers. What there are, however, are a lot of people excited about cheesy goodness. Here’s what Twitter had to say:
