Guest Bloggers Wanted

Chicago Bites started out as a way to document the dining adventures my friends and I have in Chicago. Somewhere along the way, we started taking the site more seriously and began to polish the writing, improve the photography and dig deeper into the stories and events that shape the city’s dining scene. Truthfully, there are more chefs, restaurants and dining trends out there than can reasonably be covered by a few people.

Which is where you come in as a guest blogger for Chicago Bites. Why should you consider writing for the site? Chicago Bites gets very good traffic, ranks well for the topics that we cover and has large exposure through social media outlets. If you write here and link back to your site, it will boost your Google Pagerank, improve your SEO, and may even increase your Twitter followers. Expect to add up to three backlinks per entry as well as your twitter url in the post.

There are a couple of guidelines:

  • Be original. If what you’ve written has been posted somewhere else, then we don’t want it on Chicago Bites. Same with photos that go along with the entry.
  • Be visual. The site has at least one image per entry with no stock photography, PR images, or Creative Commons work. If you don’t have a photo of a place, ask and we may be able to take it for you.
  • Be personal. We’re looking for stories that reflect your dining experience or your take on a trend/event. No product pitches or press releases!
  • Be local. If your dining experience didn’t happen in or isn’t related directly to Chicago, then you’re looking for a different site.

So now that you’ve made that decision to guest post, what to do next? The best way to pitch your story idea is to send an email to chicagobites@gmail.com. Be sure you’re following Chicago Bites on Twitter and have liked the Facebook page — we’ll be checking your stuff out there, too.

Thank you!
