Spinach Pizza

Spinach pizza made extra cheesy.

I came this close to posting about thin crust pizza today. Good thing I double-checked today’s food holiday before it went up. My usual source tells me it’s National Raisin & Spice Bar Day, which isn’t nearly as exciting and the kind of food that stops me from producing a calendar of national food days.

It is National Deep Dish Pizza day according to a quick search of the topic. Hell, why not? Chicago rocks deep dish pizza like no other place — Gino’s East, Lou Malnati’s, Pizzano’s, Uno’s. It’s all good. The slice in the picture happens to be from Chicago’s Pizza (1919 West Montrose Ave). It’s a little doughier than I usually like to see in a crust, but I enjoy the cheesiness of the pie.
