If you missed Sunday’s Local & Fair Trade Holiday Gift Bazaar, you’ll have a second chance on December 19 between 11am-4pm. The bazaar is a low-key, shopping cart-free gathering of many of the city’s best food purveyors. Since it’s held in the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, you can also take a break with the butterflies. Talk about no stress!
Make a shopping list from the vendors listed on the site and go: Need honey from City Provisions (in cool Koval bottles)? Check. Confections from Flora? Check. Zombie gingerbreadmen from Bleeding Heart? Check! Drink Deck or A La Card Packs? Check, check and check. I was able to get all my foodie holiday shopping done in one afternoon. Plus, I made a list of things I want to find in my own kitchen — Peppermint & Marshmallow Ice Cream from Ruth & Phil’s? Oh, yeah!
As a bonus, Chef Gale Gand will make an appearance that Sunday. She’ll have samples of her root beer and will be autographing copies of her books, including Brunch!, Chocolate & Vanilla, and Short & Sweet.
Admission is $5, but readers of Chicago Bites can get 2-for-1 early access at 10am and be eligible for door prizes! Just use the code gift241 when pre-registering.
