Say it isn’t so! Flirty Cupcakes owner Tiffany Kurtz was quoted in a Dow Jones Newswires-Wall Street Journal article saying she’s resorted to telling her customers to ‘meet her in the alley’ rather than deal with the rules governing Chicago’s food trucks. Food trucks have to stay 200 feet away from other restaurants and 100 feet away from similar establishments, as well as obey parking ordinances. From the article, it sounds like she had just been ticketed for a parking violation.
It’s an interesting article that sums up many of the issues/irritations surrounding food trucks in Chicago — from both the food truck point-of-view and the brick-and-mortar stores.
