Michelin made its first mark on Chicago last night. Literally. Restaurants throughout the city are waking up this morning to find a Michelin symbol painted in red on the street in front of their doors. That means they’ve gotten a nod from the prestigious food guide and have been named a Michelin “Bib Gourmand” — a restaurant that is an overall inspector favorite and that offers two courses and a glass of wine for $40 or less (tax and gratuity not included).
After a tip, my friend Alisa and I decided to stakeout Smoque BBQ last night to catch Michelin in the act! (Cause what better reason for a stakeout than amazing food? 🙂 ) Tagging teams trolled the streets, leaving their mark there and at other Chicago Bites favorites including Spacca Napoli, Ceres’ Table, Mixteco Grill, and La Creperie. The complete Bib Gourmand list will be released shortly on Facebook. Until then, keep an eye out today for the Michelin mark!
