Salmon at Sabor Saveur.

Whether you’re in the mood for seafood or meat, you’ll find something memorable at Sabor Saveur. Located in the Wicker Park Bucktown area, this “nouveau mexican” restaurant is an affordable BYOB that specializes in unique flavor combinations.

I have to go back and eat there again because I honestly don’t know what to think of the food. It was hit and miss.  The pork loin roulade, served with tejocote, almond, chipotle mashed potatoes, and reduced balsamic was fantastic — the flavors worked together to create fabulous bites. But the chocolate coated seared salmon with bell pepper corn salad and atole pepper sauce didn’t really work. Even though the fish itself was perfectly prepared, the combination was a tad overwhelming.

All of the food I tried at Sabor Saveur was creative and fun enough to mention now, and the entrees in particular shine.  Still, I want to review it more thoroughly when I’ve tasted more.  Go, try it out, and let us know what you think!
