A Real Taste of Chicago at Mercat a la Planxa

Flat bread and salad

Flat bread and salad are just two courses in the chef's tasting.

Mercat a la planxa is not the new kid on the block anymore — in fact, we’ve given it love before — but last week I was reminded that its still got game. I like to revisit our old favorites whenever I can swing it, and I’d never tried the tasting menu there even though I’ve been there often. The verdict? ┬áIt’s simply spectacular.

At $55 per person, we got so much more than our money’s worth, with a wonderfully excessive parade of dishes finding their way to our table. We quite literally waddled out of there after sampling the best of the menu. I think that’s worth a shout out, especially since Friday is fast approaching and you may be looking for weekend dining options. Mercat’s chef’s tasting is a bargain for the quality and quantity. Trust me — when you put yourself in such capable hands you won’t be disappointed.

I look forward to going back!
