Last night we attended the sold-out Beer Under Glass event sponsored by the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild. Argus, Goose Island, Half Acre, Hamburger Mary’s, Metropolitan, Rock Bottom Chicago and Two Brothers set up tasting stations at different spots throughout Illinois Craft Brewers Guild for people to quaff microbrews. Marion Street Cheese Market served pulled pork sandwiches and sunchoke soup, and Green Zebra kept the vegetarians happy with a savory bread pudding topped with fresh asparagus and rhubarb cream puffs.
I think the mix of brews from across the city, delicious nibbles, and lush green scenery was a successful combination. Pete Crowley, president of the ICBG, was also pleased with the setting and is considering future events at the venue. A lager in the cactus room this Fall? Sipping Belgian Ale amongst the ferns? Why yes, we’d be happy to return for that.
