Last night’s TOC EatOut Awards was a zippy overview of the Chicago dining scene, taking us through editor awards for everything from “Best Vehicle for Fennel” (Red Fennel cocktail at Prairie Fire) to the “Second Annual Viagra Award for Longevity” (Sun Wah Bar-B-Q Restaurant).
Rick Bayless hosted the reader choice awards, which was amusing because his restaurant Xoco was up for an award in three different categories. Bayless won for “Best New Restaurant” and “Best New Mexican Restaruant”, but lost to Hot Doug’s for “Most Worth the Wait”.
See the full list of nominees and winners on the Time out Chicago site, and more photos on our Facebook album.

umm…. Further Proof There Are Actually Top Chefs on Top Chef: Dale Levitski…. Not so much! although this sounds like it is worth trying… Best Performance in a Supporting Role: Cilantro in the dark-chocolate crémeux at Custom House Tavern…
I suspect award names are conjured to celebrate whichever restaurants, food or chefs the editors at Time Out want to highlight. However, it’s their ceremony so they can do that.
