Eating dinner at Blackbird.

Eating dinner at Blackbird.

Our Restaurant Week adventures continued with Blackbird, Paul Kahan’s gem in the West Loop. Blackbird is normally on the pricey side of fine dining so this seemed like a perfect opportunity to sample the $32 prixe fixe menu.

Restaurant Week items were marked with a red dot on the regular menu, probably to lure diners away into other culinary delights. We struggled a bit with the first round of choices, but settled on the endive salad and peppery mussel soup.

Our entree of skate wing was served with spaghetti squash and pickled ramps. We also ordered the sweet potato agnolotti which came covered with crispy kale and spicy peanuts. Both were excellent.

Dessert was a contrast between a light tangerine mousse (sans pineapple) and this delicious chocolate pave.

Restaurant Week continues through the end of the month. Get out there and dine!
