Searching for a Sunday Night Dinner Spot

Uncommon Ground is open for dinner on Sunday. I always think of it for brunch first.

It’s surprising how many Chicago restaurants are closed on Sunday for dinner. Sunday brunch? Sure! No problem. The doors are wide open! But Sunday dinner is another matter entirely.

I never realized that until I was on the hook this week to find a Sunday dinner spot that I’d never tried before. I combed our dining wish list and repeatedly came up with nothing. So in a moment of desperation, I turned to Twitter for help.

I asked for comfy, fun, and tasty dinner options and got a ton of great ideas! Here they are so you won’t go hungry this Sunday:

bschit: Balkan Cafe in Ravenswood?
krepthin: Osteria Via Stato
VanessaHayes: Try the Raw Bar & grill on Clark Sunday night. Their crispy salmon has been on the menu forever & is my fav Salmon dish ever.
VanessaHayes: Raw Bar also specializes in more exotic seafood too. Their alligator appetizer is awesomely delicious!
showsomemoxie: Rodan in Wicker Park is dead on Sun & always good. Maya del Sol in Oak Park has an awesome patio & again always good.
WFMEvanstonS: Great Lakes has communal seating for about 12. They open at 5, so queue up at 4:30. BYOB. The experience is worth it!
Zesmerelda: How about Brown Trout in Lincoln Square for Sunday?
this_is_laird: Have you been to Thai Spice in Roger’s Park? Amazing cucumber salad. It has a hot/cold thing going. Best thai in the city!
valerie_rae: Pennysnoodle shop???
WFMEvanstonS: Ever been to Lucky Platter in Evanston?
smartkahuna: Nothing fancy (beer garden) but real food served by real dudes.
smartkahuna: Potato creek johnny’s now serving brunch. Bloody Mary or Maria makes a nice start too!
kuraiou: osteria via strato?
NHRAchik67: How about Flavor in Flossmoor? Oh so good!!! http://bit.ly/171TSx
WFMEvanstonS: Few of my faves: Home Bistro, Lula Cafe, Uncommon Ground, all open Sunday!
readinggirl1984: L20 is good, if you want to spend a little bit more. Arun’s is always a nice place to go on a Sunday. Now I’m hungry! :-p
SecndCitySoiree How about Red Rooster?
bbdadd: Where are you looking? If north suburbs try Noodle or @DepotNuevo in Wilmette owned by same family http://www.depotnuevo.com
mamaliga: Spacca Napoli??

If you're in an upscale mood, Arun's is open on Sunday night too!
