The tropics were the inspiration for last night’s Iron Cupcake Challenge where entries evoked sandy beaches and the best of summer. This month’s challenge was broken up into two categories — flavor and presentation, and voting was done ballot-style instead of by a panel of judges. The changes gave everyone a chance to participate, but perhaps hurt some of the edgier entries like Nicole Lapointe’s jerk-flavored cupcakes. I shouldn’t complain because my favorite cupcake won.
