Farmer's market opens in Daley Plaza

Plants!

I was on hand for the opening of the farmer’s market in Daley Plaza today. XRT had a promotion and the mayor spoke, but for most people it was about enjoying a fabulous day in the city.

This early in the season, the selection was limited to baked goods, cheese, rhubarb and plants — lots and lots of plants. I came home with some baby strawberry, lavendar and mint plants, and strongly considered the rhubarb. 70 vendors will be out there every Thursday until October 15 so if you work downtown, pull yourself out of your cubicle and enjoy some fresh produce!

This rhubarb is a crust and two cups of sugar away from becoming pie.
