7-Day Dining Tour of Chicago

When SXSW friends Xian (@mintchaos) and Ann (@graciousangel) told us they were coming to Chicago for a week, we couldn’t resist throwing together a comprehensive dining guide to make certain they didn’t go home hungry.

If you come to Chicago, you have to try at least one cupcake spot!

If you come to Chicago, you have to try at least one cupcake spot!

We sent them to some of the best brunch places in the city (M. Henry, Orange, Over Easy), recommended strategically placed lunch spots (Park Grill, Greek Islands, Udupi Palace), put them on the front-lines of our cupcake wars (More Cupcakes, Phoebe’s Cupcakes, etc.), and made certain they saw the best of Chicago’s fine dining (Frontera Grill, Sepia, Kuma’s Corner, The Gage). We tried to send them to different parts of the city — Andersonville, Wicker Park, Lincoln Park, and downtown to give them a taste of as many cuisines as possible.

They didn’t get to everything on the list, but we did manage to meet for dinner at Urban Belly. Look for our upcoming podcast!

Frontera Grill is one of the must-visit spots in the near-north area.

Are you coming to Chicago? There are a lot of things to consider to make the most of your dining experience here… things like what neighborhoods to visit, what places take reservations, and even which ones are kid friendly. We can help!

We do build custom dining guides. If you’re interested in having us design one for you please drop us an email. Here’s the 7-day dining guide (PDF, 961K) we put together for Xian and Ann!
