There have been a number of ex-Arun's staff who have gone on to open less expensive yet similarly elegant places. Can't recall them offhand, but one is in Oak Park. Another place compared to Arun's is Indie Cafe in Uptown. With Arun's you're really paying for the service and attentiveness. Thai food is really in the class I call "peasant" food that doesn't translate real well into a high-end presentation. Go to Sticky Rice on Western instead, or better yet, buy a plane ticket to Bangkok!

Yeah, I tried calling there, it's disconnected. Well, then there's no reason to ever eat Thai food again. Ever. I'm out.
As for food poisoning, I highly doubt it, they've always been rated very high. More likely the person before you in the bathroom didn't wash their hands. Sorry, dude. Shoulda stuck with the Sesame Chicken like I told ya. Never gone wrong in over 10 years of eating there.

Sorry, the other place left me with food poisoning and an aversion to curry. That's hard to forgive, no matter how good the tiger shrimp!
Besides, I think the Bangkok is closed. At least, that's what Metromix says.

I went to Arun's once, probably 10 years ago now. What I remember was that the food was quite good, but not good enough to be worth the prices they were asking. But, I'm also biased toward that OTHER Thai restaurant that Tammy won't go with me to anymore...
